Finally incredibly cheap and lightweight UMPC that looks fine even to my “critical eye” will be available in UK soon. Unfortunately Asus was the one to release it, it is not that I don’t trust Asus notebooks, I just think they suck, especially in compare to my Sony Vaio. But hopefully Asus Eee PC 701 will change my opinion as soon as I get it.

There is nothing special about Asus Eee PC 701, besides that it is a 7 inch notebook, weights only 0.89kg and is extremely cheap! Eee runs on Corel Linux based Xandros OS, which is very easy to use and suitable for users migrating from Windows.

• RAM:512 MB DDR2 400 MHz
• Graphics Integrated: Intel 910GML with 400MHz memory bus

• Battery: 4 cell 5200 mAH

It suits my needs perfectly, but I am not very satisfied with the design, so I am thinking of modding it as I get it.
